The Aeolian Islands, also called Lipari Islands, are an archipelago of Italy belonging to the Aeolian arch, in Sicily. Administratively included in the province of Messina, the archipelago is an increasingly popular tourist destination; in fact, the islands attract up to 600,000 visitors annually.
The archipelago, of volcanic origin, is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of the Sicilian coast. It includes two active volcanoes, Stromboli and Vulcan, as well as various secondary volcanic phenomena (source: wikipedia)
